Terms of Service

Effective date: March 1, 2026  |  Last updated: March 25, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Recentered Life, LLC (“Recentered Life,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), a California limited liability company providing virtual behavioral health services. By accessing our website at recenteredlife.com, using our self-assessment tools, or enrolling in any of our clinical programs, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our website or services.

1. Description of Services

Recentered Life provides the following virtual behavioral health services to eligible individuals in the State of California:

  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): A structured clinical program delivering 9 to 15 hours of weekly treatment, including group therapy, individual sessions, and skills-based interventions. Delivered via HIPAA-compliant video conferencing.
  • Outpatient Therapy: Individual and group therapy sessions with licensed clinicians on a flexible schedule.
  • Guided Recovery Program: A structured 12-week self-directed program with clinical oversight, available in multiple tiers (Essentials, Intensive, and Accelerated).

All clinical services are provided by licensed mental health professionals credentialed in the State of California and operating within the scope of their licensure. Recentered Life is accredited by The Joint Commission (JCAHO) for behavioral health care.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to use our website or enroll in our programs.
  • Clinical programs are currently available only to residents of the State of California.
  • Clinical eligibility is determined during the intake assessment process and is at the sole discretion of our clinical team. We reserve the right to decline enrollment, recommend a different level of care, or discontinue treatment if our clinical team determines that our programs are not appropriate for your needs.
  • By enrolling, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

3. Not Emergency Services

Recentered Life does not provide emergency or crisis services. Our programs are not a substitute for emergency psychiatric care, inpatient hospitalization, or crisis intervention. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, are in danger of harming yourself or others, or need immediate medical attention:

  • Call 911 for immediate emergencies
  • Call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (24/7)
  • Text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line
  • Go to your nearest emergency room

By using our services, you acknowledge that you understand the limitations of virtual outpatient care and that Recentered Life is not responsible for providing emergency services.

4. Informed Consent for Telehealth

By participating in our programs, you consent to receiving behavioral health services via telehealth (video conferencing). You acknowledge and understand that:

  • Telehealth involves the delivery of clinical services using electronic communications, information technology, or other means between a clinician and a patient who are not in the same physical location.
  • While telehealth has been shown to be effective for many behavioral health conditions, it may not be appropriate for all individuals or clinical presentations.
  • There are potential risks to telehealth, including interruptions in service due to technology failures, reduced ability to assess non-verbal cues, and limitations in the clinician's ability to intervene in an emergency.
  • You are responsible for ensuring a private and secure environment for your sessions.
  • You will not record clinical sessions (audio or video) without prior written consent from all participants.
  • You have the right to withdraw consent for telehealth services at any time.

A separate, detailed Informed Consent for Telehealth will be provided during your intake process and must be signed before treatment begins.

5. Insurance, Payment, and Financial Responsibility

5.1 Insurance-Based Programs (IOP, Outpatient)

  • We will verify your insurance benefits prior to admission as a courtesy. Verification of benefits is not a guarantee of coverage or payment.
  • You are responsible for understanding your insurance plan, including deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums.
  • You are responsible for any amounts not covered by your insurance plan, including but not limited to deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and charges for non-covered services.
  • If your insurance carrier denies a claim, you will be responsible for the balance unless we agree otherwise in writing.
  • We will make reasonable efforts to obtain prior authorization when required by your plan, but authorization does not guarantee payment.

5.2 Self-Pay Programs (Guided Recovery)

  • Guided Recovery is a subscription-based program billed monthly via Stripe.
  • Pricing is disclosed at the time of enrollment and may vary by tier (Essentials, Intensive, Accelerated).
  • Your subscription renews automatically each month until cancelled.
  • If you are redirected to a higher level of clinical care during intake assessment, you will receive a full refund of any Guided Recovery payments.

5.3 No Surprises Act

In compliance with the No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), we will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for services if you are uninsured or choose not to use your insurance. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate before services are provided and to dispute bills that exceed the estimate by $400 or more.

6. Cancellation and Refunds

  • IOP and Outpatient: Insurance-based programs do not involve direct patient payments beyond cost-sharing amounts determined by your plan. If you wish to discontinue treatment, notify your clinician or our intake team. Discharge will be handled in accordance with clinical best practices.
  • Guided Recovery: You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting us or through your billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access through the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Refund policy: Refunds for Guided Recovery are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Refunds are guaranteed in the case of clinical redirection to a higher level of care (see Section 5.2). All other refund requests should be directed to billing@recenteredlife.com.

  • The content on this website, including blog articles, educational materials, and self-assessment tools, is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice, clinical diagnosis, or a therapeutic relationship.
  • Our pattern assessment quiz is a screening tool designed to help you understand your needs and is not a clinical diagnosis. Results are informational and will be reviewed by a licensed clinician before any treatment recommendation is made.
  • You should not rely on website content as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions regarding a medical or mental health condition.

  • Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of our services shall not exceed the total amount you paid to Recentered Life in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
  • This limitation of liability does not apply to claims arising from gross negligence, willful misconduct, or violations of applicable law by Recentered Life.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits our professional liability for clinical malpractice, which is governed by California law and our professional liability coverage.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Recentered Life, its officers, employees, clinicians, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your misuse of our website or services; or (c) your provision of false, misleading, or incomplete information.

13. Dispute Resolution

  • Informal resolution: Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to contact us at legal@recenteredlife.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
  • Governing law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.
  • Venue: Any legal action or proceeding arising from these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
  • Class action waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.

15. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If we make material changes that affect your rights or obligations, we will provide notice to active patients via email or through our patient portal.
